Shannon Bowles’ early musical education began in her home town of Nelson British Columbia where she studied with Wendy Herbison. Upon graduating from high school, Shannon studied for a year in Saarbrüken Germany with Margareta Adorf, in Calgary with Bill Van der Sloot, Toronto with Erika Raum, and most recently in Ottawa with David Stewart where she studied for a year with full scholarship. Shannon completed her Bachelors of music and Artist Diploma at the Glenn Gould School of Music.

As an orchestral musician, Shannon has performed as concertmaster of the Royal Conservatory Orchestra, and associate concertmaster of the Symphony of the Kootenays. She has also performed as a member of the Orchestra Symphonie de la Francaphonie, National Academy Orchestra and the Nelson Songfest Orchestra among others. Shannon currently performs regularly with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra. Also active as a chamber musician, Shannon has recently performed works including the Schumann Piano Quintet, Brahms Clarinet Quintet and the Elgar Piano Quintet.
