Francis Lehoux, Piano
Francis Lehoux is a solo and collaborative pianist, composer, teacher and musical director who graduated from the Schulich School of Music of McGill University. He accompanies singer-songwriters, music directs musical theatre productions, writes music for films (“La Brimbale” by Jean-Nicolas Orhon), teaches piano, and just finished recording his first solo album, The F Line, on which he’s accompanied by the Warhol Dervish string quartet. His original music is at once minimalist, romantic and cinematic (influenced by Philip Glass, Ólafur Arnalds, etc.), and tends to portray states of heart and mind induced by contemporary life. He has played at venues like Place des Arts and Webster Hall, and accompanied renowned artists such as Broadway/television actress Tovah Feldshuh, cabaret icon Jeff Harnar, and Arcade Fire’s violinist Sarah Neufeld. He’s set to launch his debut solo album in the fall 2017, and he’s very happy to join the Coop and contribute to the progress of piano students and musicians-to-be.
