Bossa nova

Thanks to this course, you will experience an immersion in Latin culture. First, the students will be invited to play various percussion instruments in order to know the rhythmic language specific to the different Latin styles. After this initial experiment, participants will be invited to transpose these rhythms to their instrument. Before playing a few pieces, the students will have already had a good time learning and inspiring in a relaxed atmosphere. In addition, notions of history will be addressed to better understand the social context of the styles taught and thus allow a more authentic interpretation. Participants will be encouraged to play and improvise on different pieces from the repertoire. A concert will be presented at the end of the session.
Required level and sample repertoire

Latin ensemble I - bossa / bolero / baião / xote / chachacha / guajira
Example pieces: Quizas Quizas, Samba Saravah, Blue Bossa, Guantanamera, Oye como va, O ovo, Assum Preto, Asa Branca, Xote das meninas.

Age
Adult

Prerequisites
Read music and know the major and minor scales. Knowing how to improvise is an asset but is not compulsory. Being able to sing in Spanish / Portuguese is an asset but is not required to take the course.
