Educational Program

Fall Session 2024

Dear students,
Dear parents,

As things gradually settle down after the excitement of the start of the school year, I would like to invite you to check out the schedule of educational activities for the fall session. We hope you will participate in large numbers. Talk to your teacher about it!

Director of Human Resources and Education

Halloween Masquerade

Online video broadcasts by students who, for the occasion, are dressed in costumes!

This simple activity is greatly enjoyed by younger students. They get the chance to wear their costumes one more time during the recording of a musical performance. We will share the videos on our Facebook page. Chocolate surprises will be randomly given to a few students!

  • Deadline for video submissions: October 27
  • Video broadcast: October 31, in the morning
  • Cost: Free
  • Note: We only accept YouTube/Vimeo links (no file uploads). To protect the children’s privacy, we do not share their last names.

Interpreter's Club (new!)

This activity is offered to students aged 12 and up taking private lessons (intermediate-advanced level, with your teacher's approval). Once a month, students gather to share the fruits of their labor in a healthy and safe environment. By playing their pieces in turn, performers get the chance to play in front of an empathetic audience composed only of peers, who are also looking to gain experience on stage (without the pressure of parents or teachers). This activity is ideal for performers preparing for auditions, exams, and concerts, or for those who simply want to develop a better relationship with public performances. To join the Interpreter's Club, please first talk to your teacher. Then, write to David Bergeron to reserve your spot. Ideally, performers will attend all meetings to create a cohesive group where camaraderie and mutual support are prioritized. There is no fee for this activity, but spots are limited.
Registration deadline: October 15

Interpreter's Club meetings will take place in the Do majeur room at the Coop on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. on the following dates:
October 26 - November 30 - January 25 - February 22 - March 29 - April 26 - May 31

November is Piano Month at the Coop!
We are excited to present the 2024 edition of Pianovember!

And finally!

Student Concerts of the Music Teachers' Cooperative:
This year, the concerts will take place on December 7 and 8 at the Montreal Conservatory of Music. Registrations will take place later this fall.

Home Evaluation:
On December 14 at the Do majeur room (schedule to be confirmed based on the number of registrations), students will have the opportunity to participate in an evaluation of their work for the session, conducted by 3 teachers from the Cooperative. They will receive written feedback on the technical exercises, studies, and repertoire pieces they present, as well as a certificate of participation. This is another opportunity to get comfortable on stage, this time in a slightly more formal setting, but without the pressure associated with auditions or external program exams. It’s a stepping stone for those aspiring to go further with their repertoire, or simply an additional chance to perform in front of an informed audience!

Registration fee: $25.
Registration deadline: December 1.
Talk to your teacher, who will know if this activity is suitable for you. The exam content will be determined by your teacher based on the guidelines set by the jury.

Happy practicing!
