Mathieu Loiseau fell into music when he was still just a kid. He studied piano, violin, percussion, vibraphone, clarinet and flute before turning to classical and jazz saxophone. Choirmaster at age of 16 and making a living out of his art since the age of 17, he won numerous awards during his high school and college years. In 2003, returning from a five years ‘round the world trip as a cruise musician, he receives the Recherche et création grant from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, which allows him to found the Moineauphonik big band, which has since performed on stage with several well-known Québec artists, including a tour with Dan Bigras and two Shows du Refuge. He owns an MA in composition from the Université de Montréal and is currently completing a doctorate in composition and musicology at the Universität für Musik und Kunst darstellende in Graz, Austria.
